DTF Gang Sheet Size Guide

The quick answer

A 2-foot sheet may be enough for a small logo run, while larger artwork or mixed quantities may need a longer sheet. Start with the finished print dimensions—not the size of the source file on your screen—then confirm the complete arrangement in the Xpress gang sheet builder.

1. Choose the final print size

“Final print size” means the width and height of the transfer after it is printed and trimmed. Set those dimensions before you count how many designs fit. A large transparent canvas around a small logo can mislead the builder, so trim away unused transparent space before uploading.

These placement ranges are a practical starting point from the current Xpress DTF transfer guide. Garment size, artwork shape, neckline, and the look you want can change the best result.

2. Plan the gang-sheet length

The simplest reliable method is to build in rows. For each artwork size, determine how many copies fit across the usable width, then determine how many rows you need. Rotate designs only when the artwork can be applied in that orientation and the rotation improves the arrangement.

1. List each finished size and quantity. Write width × height for every artwork version.
2. Open the matching sheet length. Start with the shortest option that seems realistic.
3. Set dimensions in the builder. Use the size controls instead of judging artwork by appearance alone.
4. Arrange or auto-nest the designs. Preserve the builder’s required margins and trim room.
5. Move up one length if needed. Do not shrink a design below the intended final size just to make it fit.

The current Xpress builder presents a 22.75″ × 24″ working canvas for the 2-foot option and includes adjustable spacing controls. The examples below were reproduced with the sheet’s Image Margin at 0.2″ and the selected artwork Margin at 0.5″. Builder settings can change, so use the dimensions and warnings shown during your order rather than treating either value as a universal production rule.

These examples use actual rows and columns, not square-inch division. Irregular artwork may nest differently from rectangles with the same measurements, so reproduce your own artwork in the builder before ordering.

Good layout planning cannot rescue a weak source file. Check every design at the size it will actually print.

• Set final dimensions. Confirm the exact printed width and height.
• Use transparent PNG when appropriate. Remove unwanted boxes and background pixels.
• Aim for about 300 DPI at final size. The current builder flags lower-resolution artwork.
• Trim empty canvas. Excess transparent space wastes usable sheet area.
• Inspect fine lines. Very thin details may not hold up at small print sizes.
• Read small text at print size. Zooming in can make type appear safer than it will print.

The builder currently identifies 300 DPI or higher as optimal, 150 DPI or higher as good, and 72 DPI as its minimum threshold. Treat those warnings as a starting point: sharp edges, adequate line weight, and readable type still matter.

6. Preflight before checkout

• Every design is at its intended finished print size.
• Quantities match the production count, including extras.
• No artwork overlaps another design or crosses the canvas edge.
• Backgrounds are intentionally transparent or intentionally printed.
• Resolution warnings have been reviewed at final dimensions.
• Small text and fine lines remain clear at actual size.
• The selected sheet length contains the complete layout.
• The cart shows the intended product, size, and quantity.
